Poliana Brasiel

Postdoctoral Fellow
 

My name is Poliana Brasiel. I hold a Ph.D. in Molecular and Cellular Biology, with an emphasis in Immunology and Pharmacology, from Fiocruz, Brazil. I am currently a postdoctoral researcher at Michigan State University. My research focuses on understanding how early-life events influence health and disease. In particular, I have been studying the critical role of the gut microbiota in these processes. Currently, I am working with Dr. Alexandra Castillo-Ruiz on a project investigating the role of the short chain fatty acid receptor FFAR3 in cell death and microglia colonization of the mouse brain. In my free time, I enjoy ballet, exploring new places around the world, and spending quality time with my dogs.
